What one piece of advice would you give to your 20-year-old self?
Go with the flow more – you don’t need to control everything. Develop a sense of curiosity about the world.
You find 20p down the back of the sofa, what do you spend it on?
My locker room at the pool – always losing this and as I have just started training for an open water swim, I need one at least twice a week!
If you could spend 20 minutes with a successful or famous businessperson, who would you choose and why?
I’d love to speak to my Dad. He died 20 years ago, but he had his own fruit and veg wholesale business and there are so many things I’d like to ask him now and share with him about running the business (and other things too of course!)
If you could be stuck in a lift with any two people, who would you choose and why?
Ooh, a hard one this as there are so many! David Attenborough is one. He seems such a voice for our time. And Margaret Attwood the novelist. Such an intelligent, insightful and creative person.
Where do you see yourself in 20 years’ time?
Tricky one that. As a minimum I would see myself as fit and healthy (God willing). I made a decision in my 40’s to invest in my health so I could be old. And if old, a healthy and fit old. So hopefully leading an active life.
What’s been your personal highlight since joining 2020?
Seeing how our annual CAFT ladies lunch has developed and turned into a real celebration of all that is good about women’s networking. In particular, how all the group come together to make it a success – a real sense of team work.
What’s the best thing about being a member of 2020?
I’m going to cheat and give two best things – the connections without a doubt. I’ve made good friends and given and received good business from the group.
And for me personally, the chance to get more involved in the work of CAFT has been life changing.
You have 20 days holiday to spend away from your business, where and how will you spend it?
Walking Machu Pichu.
What advice would you give to a woman starting out in their first 2 years of business?
Think of it as a business, not just a job and recognise that once you know what needs to be done, you aren’t necessarily always the person to do it…so ask for support
You can have 2 minutes time with a famous person. Who would you choose to spend it with and why?
Idris Elba. Need I say more?
Tell us 2 things the rest of the 2020 members might not know about you.
Gosh – I have shared so much over the years!
My challenge this year (I always try to do something that scares me a little each year) is to open water swim in Windermere and in Wales.
I’m a dab hand at cooking.
